Most transformer problems start before any wire is stripped. The unit gets plugged into an outlet without real weather protection, or it gets mounted low enough for sprinkler splash. Skip those two mistakes, and the project is a straightforward two-wire connection: choose a spot, mount the box, run the cable, land the wires, plug in, and test. Plan for roughly an hour with a drill, a flathead screwdriver, and wire strippers.

Where Should A Landscape Lighting Transformer Go?

Put the transformer beside a covered, weatherproof outlet on a Class A GFCI-protected circuit, with the bottom of the case at least 12 inches above the ground.
