Customizing What Spotlight Shows
Missing a result type usually means its category is turned off in Settings, not that Spotlight is broken.
On a Mac, open System Settings > Spotlight (or Siri & Spotlight on older macOS), and check which categories are enabled. On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Search and choose which apps can appear in results. For location-based suggestions, head to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services and toggle Suggestions & Search if you want them off.
If Spotlight still misses files, the local index may be stale. Apple’s documented fix: add your disk or folder to System Settings > Spotlight > Search Privacy, wait a few seconds, then remove it. That forces a reindex, which usually restores missing results.
